york fire department - 1 firehouse dr. - york, maine 03909 - (207) 363-1015 york beach fire department york ambulance york village fire department fire/ems safety tips services station & equipment photo gallery contact information weather center burning permit info video theatre take a few minutes and enjoy the many videos taken around the york fire department. view make a donation make a small donation to the york fire department more info york fire department 1 firehouse dr. york, maine 03909 (207)363-1015 the york fire department protects the southern half of the town of york, consisting of the imediate york village area as well as york harbor, rt. 91 areas, i-95 and the waters of the atlantic ocean. the department is made up of three full time firefighter/emts that work a 24 hour shift each, keeping the station staffed around the clock with one person. their duties include regular station and equipment maintenance, fire incident reporting, public service, and answering emergency calls. the rest of the fire department is made up of approx. 50 volunteer members. these volunteer members range from fire explorers to the chief of the department. many of the volunteers hold a firefighter certificate, emt license and hazardous materials/decontamination certificate. other skills include water rescue, fire investigation, and advanced rehabilitation services. these volunteers answer calls without any sort of compensation at any hour of the day, time of year, or type of incident. all members of the fire department train every thursday night on all aspects of the fire service. those firefighters who attend a minimum of 35 hours of training within a six month period recieve a small stipend from the town of york. the york fire department responds on a wide range of incidents including ems calls, building fires, fire alarm activations, water rescue emergencies, brush and wildland fires, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, weather related emergencies and many out of town emergencies. the york fire department runs on a mutual aid agreement with the surrounding towns on all major incidents. as well as going out of town, the york fire department is on an automatic response system with the york beach fire department. this means that any reported building fire or incident at any one of the four schools and the york hospital, both fire departments respond. highlights are burn permits being issued today? view today's current fire danger level. thank you the york fire department would like to thank all the local businesses for the donations towards the recent raffle held at our open house and cookout fundraiser. a special thanks also goes out to the meathouse for their donation. fund drive the york volunteer fire department will be hosting a series of fund raising events in the next year. the goal is to raise funds to replace engine 2. for more information and a schedule of events please click here york fire dept. intranet user id: home / fire & ems safety tips / services / station & equipment / photo gallary weather center burn permit info web site design by kya page web & graphic design
