we must act swiftly to prevent our community from experiencing and event such as the angora fire. we have been fortunate enough to receive some grant funding to get our fuels reduction and defensible space programs in action, but these funds will not last forever. fuels reduction is a long-term endeavor, not a one-time project; we must plan now so we can continue to implement fuels reduction projects. we must also plan now for the long term, the land we are able to treat today will require maintenance treatments in the future.  this can only be achieved with a stable, recurring funding source.  how will the revenue from the override benefit our community?      these funds will implement a variety of fuels reduction and wildfire prevention programs, and allow the district to meet our responsibilities defined in the community wildfire protection plan (cwpp).     &nb these programs include:staffing a fuels reduction and wildland fire suppression hand crew.implementing fuel break projects around our communityproviding curbside chipping servicesproviding defensible space evaluationsissuing tree removal permitsadoption and enforcement of a defensible space ordinancecoordinating community efforts to reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfireproviding ongoing public education regarding the threat of wildfire.provides locally generated revenue to “match” against future grants how much will the override cost?the tax will be $.05/100 of assessed valuation these funds will stay in our fire district, they cannot be used elsewherewe will provide annual reporting on these funds and this program to insure transparencywhy now? we will not see any revenue from this tax until 2010;
