new castle county uniformed firefighters iaff local 4417 iaff local 4417the officers and members of iaff local 4417 would like to keep paramedic stephanie callaway in our thoughts and prayers.this year the iaff local 4417 is setting a goal to support the mda. pictured is tiger and members of local 4417. members from the local visit iaff headquarters and met general secretary-treasurer vincent j. bollonpfc steve gallaher graduated basic combat training in fort jackson, sc on 11/30/07 as the squad leader for 2nd platoon bravo co. 1st battalion 13th infantry regiment. steve is now assigned to the 222nd aviation regiment in fort eustis, va for advanced individual training as a 15tango - uh-60 blackhawk mechanic.working fire in station 18's historic district. click here for more infromation on the fire.guest (firefighter) of the week. sue sokirathe officers and members of local 4417 would like to keep mike heimbach in our memories. mike was killed in a tragic accident on saturday october 27, 2007. mike heimbach was an active member of townsend fire company. the new castle county uniformed firefighters union was organized by a group of 10 christiana career firefighter/nremt's in november 2004. the group was accepted by the international association of firefighters in january 2005 and assigned the i.a.f.f. local number 4417. the career staff from elsmere fire company as well as delaware city fire company signed on soon after, and most recently the minquadale fire company career staff and then the claymont fire company. local 4417 has been recognized through the nlrb and is the first unionized organization for (combination department) career firefighter/emt's in the state of delaware.the official emblem of the new castle county uniformed firefighters was designed by charter member anthony m. consalo and approved by local 4417 members as an official patch and logo to be displayed by the organization. - &n the emblem is in the shape of the traditional shield which represents "protection".- &n the color is black to represent a memorial for all firefighters who gave all.- the red and gold trim is to match new castle county emergency services colors, to whom we work with side by side.- &nbs the inner seal is in the shape of a circle, to represent "uniformity" associated with all unions. - &n the inner maltese cross is the official seal of the international association of firefighters.- &n the red, white, & blue in the shape of the u.s. flag represent american pride and dedication.- &nbs the 10 visible red & white stripes represent the original 10 founding career firefighters who formed the new castle county uniformed firefighters local 4417.- &nbs the 12 visible stars represent christiana fire company station 12 who employed the original 10 founding career firefighters. - &n the word "delaware" in a forward slant represents the new castle county uniformed firefighters working to improve the future of the delaware fire service.- & the writing "local 4417" represents the official union local number, assigned by the international association of firefighterspresident pete noack and his wife at the 2007 expo.brother steve gallaher (22) left to begin a new career in the united states army. steve is now in fort jackson, sc for basic combat training. following that he'll move to fort eustis, va for advanced individual training as a 15 tango - uh-60 blackhawk mechanic. steve's permanent party station assignment is unknown at this time. steve will be missed by all who worked with him.postal address &nb po box 1487, bear, de 19701electronic mail webmaster: webmaster@iafflocal4417.orgsend mail to webmaster@iafflocal4417.org with any questions or comments about this web site.
