the town of minot, maine's official municipal website home board of selectmen town departments town office highway fire code enforcement solid waste disposal/recycling boards & committees local businesses announcements calendar minot fire department welcome to the minot fire & rescue department! the minot municipal fire department, with its rescue division was established by a vote of the town at the annual town meeting in 1999. the was accomplished by blending the existing west minot fire company and the first responders of minot into one entity by means of an ordinance. the fire department is governed by the selectmen. they in turn appoint a chief. the chief is recommended by the west minot fire company, which now serves as a fraternal like body of the fire department. stephen french is the current chief. he has held this position since 1985. the west minot fire company also votes to recommend two deputy chiefs; they are norman gurshick and dean campbell. all other officers are appointed by the chief and his officers. the rescue division is led by a chief of services. this title is recognized by the state as the person in charge of the rescue services of a municipality. currently james allen holds this position. there is also an assistant rescue chief. this position is held by carole bradbury. our facilities central station which is located at 329 woodman hill road . this building houses our engine #8, squad #7, tank #3 and our air cascade trailer. our meeting room is also here. west minot station - this station is located in west minot village . it is a single bay building and houses engine #1. orchard station is located on death valley road near the brighton hill road end. this building houses our engine #4 and forestry truck #5. top rolling stock (oldest to newest): engine #1 - a 1982 international harvester cab and chassis with a middlesex fire apparatus body. it has a 1,000 gallon per minute pump and a 750 gallon tank. engine #4 delivered late fall of 2006. it is a 10 wheel navistar cab and chassis and metalfab body. it carreis 2,500 gallons of water, pump 1,250 gallons per minute, have foam capabilities, and carries plenty of hose and equipment. engine #8 is a 1996 navistar 4 door cab and chassis with a central states built fire apparatus. this pumper has a 1,250 gallon per minute pump and a 1,000 gallontank, and foam capabilities. squad #7 is an ambulance type vehicle on a 1997 ford e350 that carries our rescue equipment and can serve as our command vehicle as needed. we are not licensed to transport patients, however. truck #5 is a 2001 gmc 4 wheel drive forestry truck with a skid tank and pump in the back and foam capabilities. this tank is removed in the winter months so the truck can transport our "rescueboggin". this truck was received through a fema grant. tank #3 is a 2001 navistar cab and chassis with a metalfab body. the tank, while principally a tanker carrying 2,000 gallons of water, has a 500 gallon per minute pump, foam capabilities, ladders and a complete hose load to sustain fire suppression until a pumper arrives. our cascade trailer carries our air station to replenish the breathing air for our scott brand breathing apparatus. we received this trailer and 12 air packs with our second fema grant. burning permits burning permits can now be obtained on line by going to www.maineburnpermit.com . there is a $7.00 state of maine fee for obtaining the permit on line. permits may also be obtained by contacting: stephen french at 784-0577 norm gurshick at 786-0258 dean campbell at 783-3650 we try to have personnel on duty two daytime shifts a week. they work random schedules according to their availability. they are another source for permits. stop by central station or try calling: 345-3115 if any civic group finds the need for services of the fire or rescue, or our equipment and facilities, feel free to contact us. top town office 329 woodman hill rd. minot , me 04258 click for directions phone: (207) 345-3305 fax: (207) 346-0924 designed and maintained by protean graphics
