maury county fire department home about contact gallery training services links personnel tanker delivery (date posted - 8/20/2008 )delivery is expected soon on two tandem axle 3,000 gallon water tankers. during the month of september we hope to receive these apparatus. this will greatly help our fire response to areas of the county where fire hydrants are sparse. while pumper/engines remain on the scene to fight the fire using hoses the tanker apparatus are specially designed to haul water into the scene and dump it into portable tanks and go for more water. these apparatus will be housed at columbia headquarters station and mynders station. training (date posted - 8/20/2008 )chief development training will begin on tuesday aug 26. training chief brooks has put together an intense officer development program that will be held on the 2nd & 4th tuesday nights over the course of several months. it is to teach basic fire officer training and continue into fire chief development for our future leaders within our department. while this may start as review for some, it is still encouraged for all to attend for the team building exercise. see below for a schedule reminder:recruit training monday nights ; advanced firefighter training 1st & 3rd thursday every month ; chief development training: 2nd & 4th tuesday board of directors meeting will take the place of chief training on 2nd tuesday of the odd numbered months.theta building project (date posted - 8/20/2008 )building expansion is about to begin at our theta fire station. with the assistance from our fundraising efforts and theta community support we are planning an expansion of two additional bays for apparatus storage in the theta community. the current fire station, located at 2110 gravel hill road, will remain and be used for a training classroom and office area. a 32x40 building will be erected behind the current location to facilitate proper storage of the new fire engine that should be delivered within 120 days.new equipment (date posted - 8/20/2008 )maury county fire department recently placed an order to purchase three additional class a engine/ fire pumpers. funding for these apparatus came from federal government funding under the afg (assistance firefighters grant) program with a 5% matching portion coming from maury county government. these engines will be replacing very dated equipment in the communities of santa fe, theta and mt.pleasant. these new apparatus will be able to a safely respond 5 firefighters on board while carrying 1,000 gallons of water, hose and equipment to mitigate a fire emergency. at a cost of nearly $220,000 a piece this project couldn’t have been achieved without the assistance from the afg funding process. recruitment (date posted - 8/20/2008 )maury county fire department is currently seeking highly motivated individuals for the position of volunteer firefighter. must be 18, have a valid drivers license, no criminal background history and pass physical agility test. all training and equipment provided. this is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in the fire service while giving back to your community. if interested please fill out an application and return it to headquarters station at 1207 b tradewinds dr columbia by sept 26, 2008. any questions please feel free to contact our office (931)388-0035.new equipment (date posted - 1/6/2008 1) maury county fire department was awarded a new polaris ranger 6x6 received from u.s. smokeless tobacco. this utility vehicle was received from a 100% funded grant from usst operation ranger.the u.s. smokeless tobacco company operation ranger program awards rugged, off-road utility vehicles to our nation’s emergency responders. to date, 330 vehicles have been awarded across all 50 states. continued program funding is subject to the approval of our corporate contributions committee and it can be expanded, reduced or eliminated at any time.the operation ranger program exists both to recognize the service of our nation’s emergency responders and to provide a versatile, practical vehicle that will enhance emergency response capability at the community level. we gratefully acknowledge the assistance of polaris industries, the national volunteer fire council and the many vehicle recipient agencies that have helped us shape this signature program since its inception as a pilot program in late 2002.burn permits required oct 15-may15 (date posted - 10/15/2007)burning permits are required in maury county oct 15-may 15.to obtain a burning permit you must contact tennessee state forestry dept. at 1-800-367-3507.permits are free of charge and are only issued from 8am-4:30pm mon-fri. after you obtain your permit please call our office 931-388-0035 and notify our staff of your burning location. this allows us to track control burns in the event someone calls 911 about smoke in an area. for additional safe burning information please visit www.burnsafetn.org statistics 2007 statistics incidents total 620 structure fires 71 wildland fires 81 vehicle fires 36 motor vehicle accidents 211 training hours 1,805 total hours volunteered 8,010 site tools live scanner feed (provided by the mt. pleasant record) subscribe to maury county fire department visit this group © maury county fire department 2007. all rights reserved.
