greenhills fire department || home greenhills fire department homefd newsfirehouse flashesimage galleryvideo gallery in case of an emergency,dial 911 station 4811000 winton roadgreenhills, ohio 45218513.589.3583 about the gfd historyfaqfd membersimage galleryvideo gallery run statistics september's run totals:56 fire runs51 ems runs107 total runs resources village of greenhills, ohioamerican red crossready.govfema login form feed entries we are 100% volunteer - 100% of the time! welcome to the greenhills fire department website. the greenhills fire department proudly serves greenhills, ohio a residential community with a population of nearly 4,000, located within the i-275 beltway. since 1938, the greenhills fire department has provided emergency response for both fire protection and emergency medical services as an all volunteer department. the greenhills fire district includes the village of greenhills, and winton woods park. in addition, greenhills fire department has an automatic mutual aide response agreement with the city of forest park. the greenhills fire department is proud of our 35 member strong department. all of our volunteers are state of ohio certified inemergency medicine as emt-basic and a minimum of fire fighter 1a. village places fire and emergency medical services levy on ballot residents of greenhills will be asked to vote on a replacement 2.5mill fire and emergency medical services levy this november 4th. the levy, if approved, will replace two current levies, one for 1.5 mills, initiated 23 years ago in 1985, and an additional levy of 1 mill, approved by voters 12 years ago in 1996. this levy is not an increase in millage but would rather generate funds reflecting today’s property valuations. this levy would seek to increase the annual revenue to provide the fire department with funding for daily operating expenses, such as worker's compensation, insurance, protective gear, utilities, and fuel. since the last levy was approved in 1996, the department’s income has remained approximately stable, yet costs and expenses have increases over 49%. according to fire chief tony spaeth, "since 2001 cost have skyrocketed, worker's compensation is up nearly 308%, fuel up 136%, ems supplies to save lives has increased over 231%". he added, "our members are all volunteers and serve this community with absolutely no monetary compensation, they deserve to be outfitted in the latest, safest, and most compliant gear available". turnout gear, allowing firefighters to extinguish structure fires, now cost in excess of $2000 each set."this levy will enable us to maintain the highest quality of service at the lowest possible cost to our residents,” said spaeth. the chief said approval of this levy, would mean the department can continue the practice of providing ems (emergency medical services) without billing greenhills residents.according to the hamilton county auditors web site, the owner of a $100,000 home could expect to pay a total of about $73.94 annually for their fire and ems protection. the levy will be issue #23 on the ballot. annual gfd hydrant inspections the greenhills fire department members will be out during the month of october testing all of the fire hydrants in the fire district. this action is to insure that the hydrant near your home provides water should there be an emergency and to make sure they will not freeze in winter. each of the several hundred "fire plugs" will be inspected for proper operation, and the caps lubricated for ease of opening. at the same time, the fire fighter is looking for damage, rust, and obstacles such as plantings or weeds. during the testing, water will be flowed from the hydrant to remove sediment and debris. this activity may cause a temporary discoloration of the water to your home as rust is stirred up in the water mains. if you do encounter this situation, refrain from doing laundry, and we ask that you simply run the water for a few minutes to clear the lines.for the safety of our fire fighters and of our residents, we ask that you drive carefully around the crews as they work (often times in the street) and please do not drive through the potentially deep water while flowing. powered by joomla!. designed by: free joomla templates, web hosting. valid xhtml and css.
