east maine fire company, inc east maine fire company, inc. 847 east maine road johnson city, ny 13790 the east maine fire company is an all volunteer fire company formed in 1948. we are located in the town of maine in broome county, new york. our fire district includes parts of the town of maine, the town of union, and the binghamton regional airport. we supply both fire/rescue and emergency medical assistance to our protection areas, as well as mutual aid to neighboring districts. we meet for training on monday nights, 7-9pm. new members are always welcome. our apparatus: 56-1 rescue 1986 salisbury (medium duty) rescue 56-2 pumper/tanker 1990 sutphen pumper/tanker 56-3 brush 1986 ford brush truck 56-4 pumper/tanker 2002 4-guys pumper/tanker emfc 2007 officers maps to our station emfc pictures (updated january 2006) sign guestbook view guestbook map of our district e-mail the emfc chief broome county firefighters' association other fire dept. and assoc. links maine emergency squad inc. the east maine fire company would like to thank you for stopping in to see us. we are an organization of conscientious individuals, your neighbors, who care for the well-being and safety of our families and yours. the company protects fire protection district no. 7 in the town of maine and fire protection district no.12 in the town of union. like many volunteer organizations, we suffer from a serious problem that you can help us solve. low membership plagues all volunteer organizations and we are no exception. by joining you will not only be helping us you will be helping your self, your family, your friends and neighbors. there are many jobs in the fire company, some that involve fighting fires and some that do not. we do not require members to become interior firefighters. there are numerous jobs that one can do without having to fight fire, such as, become a fire policeman, run the pumps on the trucks, run the auto extrication equipment, or become an emergency medical technician to name just a few. we supply full workers compensation insurance, in the event that you become injured at an incident. the requirements for membership are simple: · be at least 16 years of age, and be voted in by the membership. · &nb undergo a free health physical. the physical is given by broome county health department · complete the new york state scene support firefighter class. (within 18 months of joining) · attend a minimum of 6 hours of “in house” training every 3 months. you can join either the fire company or the med team or both. all personal protective gear is provided by the fire company and all training fees are paid for. there is no financial obligation to joining. “in house” trainings and monthly business meetings are held on monday nights from 7-9 pm and one saturday a month from 8 am to 12 pm. fire and med team officers are elected annually. the east maine fire company is a non-profit corporation run by a board of directors elected from the membership at the annual elections in december. the company also has a social side. an installation dinner is held each year to welcome in the newly elected officers and board members. barbecues and other get-togethers are held for members and their families. members also help each other out in times of need, the membership has a variety of skills that can be called upon when needed. the use of the fire hall and/or the use of the companies’ chairs and tables is also available to members. click headline for top content from firehouse.com the web's community resource for fire, rescue, ems safety
