(us13 north) crews arrived to find 4 cars involved, with 1 patient (who was transported to prmc). 2 pickup trucks, 1 station wagon and 1 car were involved, including a truck carrying house paint. crews remained on scene for about 45 minutes for cleanup. whitesville rd. was shutdown along with 1 lane of northbound us13 during the alarm. it is unknown if charges are pending. house fire click on the image to see all of the images for this story. august 20, 2008 - ju after 8:30am sta.74 delmar, sta.2 salisbury and sta.5 hebron was alerted for a working structure fire with a report of 2 people trapped inside at 101 spruce st in delmar. deputy chief d. scott arrived to find a 1 ½ story dwelling with smoke and fire visible from the exterior. all occupants were accounted for that was living in the home. first arriving delmar unit was engine 74-3, they were ordered to pull past the home and hit the hydrant and advance a 1 ¾ hose line thru the front door. truck-74 along with truck-2 was ordered to ladder the roof and ventilate. the crew from hebron’s engine 503 assisted the interior crews with containing the fire. crews were on scene for nearly 3 hours. the maryland state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire. crane fire - delmar de. click on the image to see all of the images for this story. august 15, 2008 - on 8-15-08 the delmar fire department was alerted for a vehicle fire at sussex scrap metal on bi state blvd. 74-15 (s. johnson) arrived in his private vehicle to find a crane that was being dismantled and caught fire during the process. engine 74-3 arrived and put two 1 ¾ inch foam lines in service. crews had the fire under control in about 10 minutes. engine tanker 74 arrived and supplied engine 74-3 with water. the alarm was placed under control a few minutes later. responding units: engine 74-3, engine tanker 74 and delmar fire department fire police. accident w/ rescue click on the image to see all of the images for this story. august 9, 2008 - at 10:23pm on 8-09-08 the delmar volunteer fire department was alerted for an accident with rescue at the intersection of waller rd & jersey rd. 74 command (74-18 a. rementer.) arrived to find two vehicles in a ditch with one on top of the other and the driver of the car trapped inside. at this time command requested maryland trooper-4 medivac to respond to the scene.rescue 74 arrived on scene led by 74-15 & (s. johnson) and place the hurst ‘’o’’ cutters & hurst spreader’s in service. crews worked the front & rear driver’s side doors to free the driver. the extrication was complete in about 10 minutes and ems crews command that it would be faster to go by ground than air. the driver was packaged in loaded into paramedic a-74 and transported to the hospital.74 command requested 2 additional ambulances to transport the driver and occupant of the ford f150. all 3 patients that were transported to peninsula regional medical center in salisbury maryland. due to the vehicle being wrapped around the utility pole, delmarva power was requested to respond. they had to get a special truck to the scene to grab and stabilize the pole while wrecker crews removed it from around the pole. crews were on scene for 2 ½ hours during the alarm. delmar fd fire police shut down jersey rd and waller rd in both directions in the area of the accident.maryland state police were on scene and conducting an investigation to the cause of the crash. responding units: 74 command, rescue 74, engine 74-3, paramedic a-74, paramedic 16 (salisbury), paramedic a5 (hebron) & the maryland state police. accident w/ rescue - delmar de. click on the image to see all of the images for this story. august 8, 2008 - at 12:16am the delmar fire department along with sussex county medic 102 were alerted for a accident with injuries at the intersection of iron hill rd & rt.13. crews arrived to find a chevy s10 pickup and a ford focus that were involved in a t bone type accident. the pickup struck the other vehicle in the driver’s side door. the driver of the focus was trapped and complaining of leg & chest pain. rescue crews worked two sets of hurst tools to free the driver in about 5 minutes where she was then transferred to the ems crew for treatment. the passenger of that car was already packaged and in an awaiting ambulance. the driver of the chevy pickup refused treatment at the scene.two patients were transported to prmc in salisbury md for treatment. the delaware state police were on scene. the delmar fire police shut down one lane of northbound rt.13 during this alarm.units on scene: rescue-74, paramedic a-74, ambulance b-74, engine 74-3 and the delaware state police. accident w/ rollover click on the image to see all of the images for this story. august 4, 2008 - at 3:32am on 8-04-08 the delmar fire department along with medic 102 & trooper-2 were alerted for a accident with rescue on providence church rd north of west line rd. crews arrived to find a ford f150 over turned and a utility pole cut off at the base. the driver was still inside the truck but was not trapped. at this time medic 102 & trooper-2 were returned to service and the alarm would be handled by sta.74 units already on scene.ems crews packaged the patient and transported him to peninsula regional medical center in salisbury md as a pri-2 patient.delaware electric co-op was called to the scene to replace the utility pole. two tow trucks were called from carey’s towing out of laurel del to remove the vehicle.units cleared the scene by 4:45am. the delaware state police was on scene and conducting an investigation to the cause of the accident. accident w/ rollover click on the image to see all of the images for this story. august 3, 2008 - on 8-03-08 the delmar fire department was alerted for an accident with injuries and rollover on jersey rd near adkins rd. units arrived to find an suv overturned into a deep ditch. the driver was able to break a window and free himself before emergency crews arrived. paramedic a-74 began treating the only occupant of the vehicle, but he later refused treatment and decided not to go to the hospital. delmar fire police shut down jersey rd unit the vehicle was removed from the ditch. the wicomico co sheriff’s department was on scene.this stretch of jersey rd has seen its share of serious accidents. many drivers fail to make the corner here and end up in the same ditch as the driver did today.units on scene:paramedic a-74, rescue 74, engine 74-3, delmar fire police and the wicomico co sherriff’s department. recent headlines july 27, 2008 -
